Pregnant 10 Year Old Sparks Abortion Debate in Mexico
There is a 10 years old girl who is over 17 weeks pregnant in Mexico in this article. However she cut off for a legal abortion by almost a month in Mexico. Her family and the girl were not informed of their right to abortion. People debated on it and one group agreed abortion because this girl is immature yet so that she can’t care her baby. They also stated that not only it is the high risk pregnancy but also it is the pregnancy puts the girl at risk. The other group did not agree with abortion because they believe that God gives life. I was sad and can’t choose agree and disagree when I read it. Because she is still young but the baby is a life. So I can’t choose agree and disagree.

I think that the most important thing in this situation is how her health, both mental and emotional, would be affected by having the baby. She is only ten which means that her body is not fully equipped to carry a baby, therefore the chance of both her and the babies survival would be slim. Another factor to consider is the that she was raped by her stepfather and that is how she got pregnant. For any woman to get pregnant by rape is a horrible thing, and not being able to abort the baby in this case is a major breach of human rights. So for me, there is no question about what should be done here. Your argument was that a baby is a life, but the girl is a life too, and if in having the baby the life of both of them is in danger, then it makes that argument void.
ReplyDeleteIt is extremely harmful for countries (or states) to make abortion illegal, as this leads to back alley abortions which contributes to the death of many unfortunate woman. I believe that all woman should be given a choice, no matter what the situation. It is our bodies, and noone should be able to take away that kind of freedom from us.
The topic you chose is very interesting to discuss and the examples you found are really extreme, so it really makes the readers think about these specific cases.
ReplyDeleteBut I noticed that the blog does not exactly follow a thread of ideas. you have theses individual entries about individual articles and comment on them. maybe you could use this make a fluent text with an argumentation out of it?
you already found interesting material, but to make it suit our task you could try to rewrite it a bit I guess!
thanks, your commnet
ReplyDeleteBut I am terrible sorry about it
it is not my final writing...
but you guys commnets are really good for me
Good work!
ReplyDeleteI can find the argumentation now (^_^)b
Mhm... I actually think that the risk of abortion is not as super high... The main problems are undeveloped countries and countries where abortion is not allowed. If a woman needs or wants to have an abortion there it is very likely that her only option will be a quite dodgy and unprofessional place. THEN the chance of complications and such is huge.
in well developed areas without an abortion ban the risk is very low.
the question of the risk is very minor to me compared to ethical questions and the like. but I actually admit that I usually try not to think about this. I don't think abortion is the correct answer to irresponsible sexual behavior. however, a pregnancy can still occur even if a couple uses all the contraception products available.
Abortion should not be a routine method to get rid of the unwanted child but in difficult situations and for certain reasons I would agree to it.
Firstly, When I saw your topic, I felt some heavy stuff pushed my heart. As I woman, this issue make me very angry... A God gives us very special power, woman can pregnancy her and her partner's baby. It is one of the most wonderful thing...
ReplyDeleteHowever, sometime woman have an unwanted pregnancy by accident or an unexpected accident. In this time, we can't decide what is right way... A fetus is human being.. they can breath, eating, hear sound and feel emotions.
It is really hard issue to decide...
Maybe if I have an unwanted pregnancy by accident, I will decide the abortion but I am christian. My decision could be a homicide.
.....................................
I can't really decide my opinion...because I'm not victim right now...
It is a really arguing topic that always have two sides. It is really depend on what the situation of this lady, if she is mature and have an ability to look after her kid, this is really fine to keep this kid. On the contrary, if she is a single mother without job and no one will help for her situation, the right thing to do for her is that go to abortion.
