Do you agree or diagree about abortion?

Abortion is debatable society’s problem around the world because of the moral issues. A lot of women and girls who made sexual mistakes and were sexually abused wants to have an abortion. It is true that people often face this issue from media such as news and online websites. This essay will explore the debates on abortion.

Many countries are banned and limited in spite of people still have abortion ordinary areas. Abortion rates in poor and rich nations are were similar and half of abortion is unsafe. A statistic in this article shows that every country has similar outcome. 13 percent of women, which is about 70,000 people in the world, die every year from unsafe abortion worldwide. The rate of maternal mortality is not decreasing. Although abortion rate decreased form 46 million to 42 million between 1995 and 2003, rate of unsafe abortion remained same. It is still executed illegally.

Some people don’t agree with abortion as they think it is illegal and cruel behavior. The other group of people says some women need abortion. For example, in Mexico, a stepfather raped his daughter and the girl became pregnant. The country had a law of abortion so that the girl could not have an abortion because she was over 17 weeks pregnant. Many people are still debating about it and agree abortion in this case because this young girl who is pregnant is not able to care the baby as she is immature yet. But some people who are a religious disagree with it because the fetus also has a life. A web site where a lot of countries give opinion on abortion for women shows national law of abortion. It tells people about what the countries think about abortion in relation to protect women’s life, physical health, mental health, sexual abuse fetal defect and socio-economic factors. Most of countries agree abortion for protecting women’s life but they do not agree to request abortion. Also the counties had different response to abortion for women who are unwillingly pregnant due to sexual abuse.

In addition, an article talks about a law on abortion which restricts abortion for 20 weeks pregnant women. However the law is not acknowledged yet so people still debate on it. According to this article, fetuses between 22 and 24 weeks have viability outside the womb of mothers. Some doctors in this article said the 20 week ban is based on assertion that fetuses also feel pain. Abortion opponents are still waiting for acknowledgment of the law. Because they wanted know about when this law would enforce. However some women in another article asserted abortion access have to be protected. They say decision of abortion has to be made by the pregnant women, her family and doctor, not politicians because abortion is directly related to health issues.

No matter what the law and policies are, the problem is that so many teenagers have unsafe or unprotected intercourse so they look for an answer to deal with unwanted pregnancy and it is abortion. It is true that many girls are persuaded to abortion by their boyfriend or parents. Because they can’t figure out what to do with their pregnancy and how to tell their parents, they try to hide the fact and have abortion. Here is another article that talks about a teenage girl who visited Louisville abortion clinic center. She asked some questions related to abortion and the clinic worker gave information to her. A student-led-pro-life group filmed undercover video while this girl was approaching the clinic and they asserted that abortion in this clinic seemed so easy. However, the clinic stated that they were just giving information and they will continue to do so.

Some people state that there have to be parents’ consent for teenage girls to have abortion like parents give consent to health practitioner in order for their children to receive any other treatments. For example, the writer has a son who got sick and he called doctor’s office and wrote physical form for his son. Compare this example to abortion, the writer asserts that the similar procedure must be happened for abortion of teenagers, informing parents and getting consents. Because girls younger than 16 are immature so they can’t rationalize.

Here is another story of pregnant teenage girl’s experience. A teenager said that she felt guilty and sorry for the baby and wanted to change her decision if she could make it again. It is true that almost women have mother maternal instincts so they could not forget their unborn baby. Another article describes the suffering that women who lost her unborn baby by abortion go through. A woman in this article became hesitated to see the things for babies and pregnancy and went through abortion grief physically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically. It also says that close people around the women like men and family also go through similar feeling. It teaches us on ‘what they feel after abortion’ and persuades people not to decide abortion.

To sum up, many people asserted that abortion is women’s right. However there are reasons why people are still debating on it. Through the articles, we can see that abortion is not an answer that ends the problem or situation. It is seen as unsafe and immoral as the stories of women who had abortion gives evidence. Why would women decide to have abortion if women have to carry the feeling of guilt for their whole life?

  1. Great work ! Some examples make easy to understand and focuse me to read.

Abortion..it is also another debatable issues. It is hard topic to decide which is right or bad about abortion. I think it depends on women's decision because it is her life. There are huge differences whether having a baby ot not. The whole of women's life could be changed even women would forgive their future that they planned.

Some women worried about financial problem or their study or work. There are a way that They could get another parents to take care of their child thorugh adoption agency.

However, I think the most important point is prevention! Do not make a happen to think about the abortion.

  2. Actually, such controversial topic forever has not correct or wrong answer. I appreciate your quiet nice analysis in your blog.

I think different people have their different opinions on this issue. Honestly, I agree that women should have their rights to decide if they want to stop or keep the pregnancy, and a humanistic and democratic country should allow abortion to legalize.

Except the irresponsible pregnancy, the women who attempt to abort always have their individual reasons. If they have no the right of abortion, they have to take on the heavy load to bring up the child, that might be unfair for their future or harm for their health.
Also, I don’t think justifiable abortion will do damage to any social system.
